Hello, I'm Chelsey.
Professional Doula
On July 28, 1994 I, Chelsey Renee Burton, was born in downtown Memphis, TN. Although I was primarily raised by my mother, I had a village including my father, an older brother, aunts and uncles. Majority of my childhood, we lived in what’s considered “North Memphis.” I attended Vollintine Elementary, Snowden Middle, and graduated from East High School. I was always an honor student and participated in multiple extracurricular activities such as girl scouts, national beta club, national honors society, band, HOSA, Upward Bound, dance squads, and many other clubs that shaped my all-around personality. I attended The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga from 2012-2017 for a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry; in 2021, I became a certified Birth and Postpartum Doula. In between time for 6 years, I served as an Administrative Coordinator for Housing and Special Events at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Life wasn’t always so peachy. I’ve survived Covid-19, Bells Palsy, costochondritis, pneumonia in my lungs, Ovarian Cancer, and losing my baby girl, Skylar Elise in April 2017. Daily, I still struggle with PCOS and Alopecia.
I’m grateful for my family, friends, and support system. They encouraged me to follow my dreams and passions, in spite of! In December 2021, I founded Burton Birthing LLC, servicing families across Memphis and surrounding areas as a birth and postpartum doula.
Every year, I have Brunch N’ Babies to see the previous moms and babies that I had the privilege of being on their journey to life. I also host an Inaugural Black-Tie Event: Auction & Fundraiser titled Labor 2 Life. I pray for years to come that this event continues to bring awareness to the city, state, and funds for low-income families and teenage mothers! I’m so proud of myself and I know with determination, I can keep moving forward and grow in the best way possible!
