Professional Doula

My foundation as a holistic health practitioner is grounded in the wisdom and intelligence of the body to heal itself. As a healer I believe that alignment of spirit, mind and body is essential for the “whole” person to experience a vibrant quality of life. I began my personal yoga journey in 2006 when I drifted into a morning class at the Mason YMCA in Memphis, TN. My twice weekly practice put me on an evolutionary path of self-discovery beyond what I would have ever imagined which lead to the student becoming a certified teacher in 2011. Since that time, I have impacted hundreds of lives with my nurturing gift as a teacher, wellness coach and health advocate. My passion is offering the art of restorative yoga as a gentle, therapeutic tool for stress relief, relaxation and healing trauma. I am especially energized by gathering women for sharing circles that cultivate self-care as a sacred ritual for enhancing quality of life and overall well-being.

My core value of inclusivity and non-judgement is the essence of my healing presence as a teacher, coach and advocate. This value supports my intentional building and sustaining of a welcoming community that fosters acceptance, wellness and support and is reflected in my mission to:

  • Teach women self-care and wellness practices

  • Coach women who seek an enhanced quality of life through behavior and lifestyle changes

  • Build a community of women who embrace self-healing and nurture each other

While my core focus is the unique self-care and wellness needs of women, my practice is accessible and welcoming to individuals without regard to ethnicity, gender or sexual orientation.

My formal training includes a Life coach course through the Life Purpose Institute, 200-hour yoga teacher certification with Yoga Works, essential oils educator and wellness advocate with doTERRA, two-time attendee at the Yoga Journal Conference, continuing education in “Yoga for Race-based Trauma Therapy” and the Yoga as a Peace Practice curriculum created by the Black Yoga Teachers Alliance (BYTA) and various other workshops and seminars. To broaden my impact, I earned a Master of Arts in Health and Wellness Coaching with a concentration in Herbal Studies from the Maryland University of Integrative Health in December 2018 and am currently pursing a training path for birth work to include prenatal yoga and postpartum doula.

I am the mother of three amazing sons Jeremy, Frederick and Joshua. I am an optimist, nature lover, foodie, visionary and wine enthusiast. I enjoy traveling and cultural experiences with my partner Roz from who I inherited five delightful grandchildren. My community and civic involvement include membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Dorothy Day House board member, Freedom’s Chapel Christian Church and mentor to youth and young adults.
